REVIEW: Dons not down despite going out of Cup

The Women's team lost at the first hurdle in the National League Cup, but can still take away positives as they prepare for their return to Plough Lane this weekend.

A tough draw was handed to the Dons in this year's National League Cup, and so it proved as AFC Bournemouth came away with a narrow 1-0 win to give the Dons an early exit.

Changes were made on Sab Jamal’s side as captain Ellie Dorey's ongoing injury meant Poppy Wright started, with Georgia Robert wearing the captain’s armband.

The two teams had already met this season on the opening day, with the Cherries gaining a 1-0 win over a revamped Wimbledon team. Now the Dons have settled into a rhythm and have been playing with confidence. A recent loss to Oxford United and a goalless encounter at Hashtag United have shown they are not the complete article yet, and with their feet firmly on the ground, they tackled this cup match with real ambitions.
