Dons v Crewe replay

The Railwaymen took the Dons to a replay 30 years ago.

Almost three decades ago, Crewe Alexandra forced the Premier League Dons to an FA Cup replay. With this week's Cup match fast approaching, we take you back in time to both of those games.

The first round of the FA Cup is this coming Saturday. A chance for a few remaining non-league clubs, and those in League One and Two, to advance and start dreaming of a chance to draw a big-gun Premier League side, and with that the dream of a shock win.

It was back in January 1997 that Division Two side Crewe Alexandra had beaten Kidderminster Harriers 4-1, and then Hull City 5-1 en route to their own plum tie against a top-flight opponent.

Wimbledon may not bring the glamour of Manchester United, Arsenal or Liverpool, but the Dons were sitting an impressive fifth in the table and feared no one.
