Positive signs in new era for the Women's side

After a decade at the club. Kevin Foster departed as manager of AFC Wimbledon Women’s team at the end of the 2025/26 season. It had been a decade of largely successful times, with promotions and decent runs in Cup competitions. He left the club knowing he had taken it to heights that hadn’t been achieved for quite some time, with the recent restructuring of the leagues.
It would be fair to say a ceiling had been reached. Some players who had worked tirelessly with the club in that time also departed, including record goal scorer Ashlee Hincks.
Normally this would be a time of uncertainty, but the Women's board calmly went about the recruitment tasks ahead of them. Firstly, to find the right fit for manager. Someone who could not only take control of a situation where veteran players were leaving and therefore rebuild a squad that is capable of playing at level 3 standard, but also harness the ethos of the club. Understanding that we couldn’t just throw money at players, but had to get them on board with what the club stands for and the pride of pulling on the shirt. Sabiha Jamal was the one who stood out and immediately took to the task.
